Why is Bleed important on template guides?
Bleed is extending any color, photo, or design element past the cut line. Bleed gives the print shop a margin of error when trimming hundreds of sheets at a time. We request you add 1/8 inch of bleed to your layouts.
Why is Safety important on template guides?
Safety margins are the opposite of bleed. Important information, song titles, text, graphics and other elements should be kept 1/8 inch inside the crop marks. Each template has guides so you can see exactly how much safety margin to allow.
How tiny can text be?
On your printed pieces you can go as small as 4 or 5 pts for black type on a light or white background, and 6 pts for white type on a dark, black or complex background. This will vary depending on the typeface you use. For on-disc printing we recommend type be no smaller than 6 pts for black on a light background, 8 pts for white on a dark background.
